Welcome to my page offering an information profile of my clients and of myself, gathered  from my 8 years in private practice.

Clients I’ve worked with

Clients in therapy are women and men, individuals and couples.   They range in age from 20-60+, exploring past and present - preparing for their futures.   They work in many fields as professionals, students, management, executives, and entrepreneurs.   Some examples are arts, music, film, journalism, sales and marketing, medicine and healing, technology, manufacturing, insurance, banking, teaching, administration, government, finance, service, hospitality, and others.

Clients come from many backgrounds, cultures, faiths, and experiences.  Diversity is a given.

Client Issues I’ve worked with

Intimacy and relationship, financial, bereavement, grief, loss, transitions, family of origin, childhood trauma, abuse, work and career, conflict/anger, depression, anxiety, HSP (highly sensitive persons), addictions, OCD, ADD, self-esteem, shame, sexuality, identity, adoption, living with chronic illness/remission, stress, spiritual crisis, and more.  I’ve worked with such issues using long-term depth psychotherapy and brief dynamic therapy models.

The space I work in

Near Christie and Bloor close to the subway and parking.  It’s an old house converted into offices.  I rent a private, cozy sitting room that was recently renovated, and share this building with psychotherapists, massage therapists, and other healers.  I am available for appointments daytime, some evenings, and Saturdays.

The therapist-client connection

Clients have been ready, willing and able to explore themselves and their lives with me, in regular meetings and on their own time.  Their personal work leads to finding solutions for urgent and ongoing challenges, transforming them into meaningful learning and healing experiences.  The client and those closest to them gain most from the therapy experience and serve as a resource to others.  My abilities as a resource come from my extensive training, education, personal growth and the growth of my clients.

This therapist’s journey

My commitment to this work began as a client in my early 30’s. I was in crisis following the death of a good friend, then reunions with birth family, the surfacing of childhood abuse, and loss of relationship – all catalysts occurring at once.   I had done some prior counseling in my 20’s, addressing self-esteem and relationships, on a short-term basis. After 5 years immersed in individual, group, primal, plus transpersonal, and some couples therapy I began my studies at Union Institute.

My desire to become a therapist came from my life-long interest in Psychology even though my first career was in Human Resources management.  My graduate degree in Counselling Psychology included a practicum supervised by a GP Psychotherapist.  For my thesis and other academic work I was supervised by a Jungian Analyst.  Hence, this training was an eclectic mix of clinical and complementary methods.

After another 3 years, I graduated, and at that time became a new mother.  My journey continues by adding spirituality, community and culture to the mix, as a result of uncovering my native ancestry and participating in anishnawbe traditions.  I didn’t graduate from life’s challenges however, so my personal and professional development continues to this day.

We can discuss what you need and how my approach will help you, as well as fees, insurance coverage and other issues, during a free consultation.  My email address and phone are on the left, and here is my map. You can also visit my website.

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.
